Exploring an Abandoned Motel in Spokane, WA

Since it’s October, I thought it would be appropriate to share my spooky abandoned motel experience from my trip to Spokane.

My family and I were staying at the Best Western Peppertree Hotel, which happened to be right next door to the Airway Express Inn. We were curious about the motel since it appeared to be abandoned, so one day we decided to go check it out. Since we visited during the daytime, the spooky vibe wasn’t as strong, but it was still eerie.

A note on the office window said that residents had to vacate their rooms by a date in early 2017. I believe the inn had been purchased by a new buyer, though it had no indication of what the building would be used for in the future.

Here is a little look inside one of the motel’s rooms. Since my family and I were unsure if any people were inside the rooms (we could see sleeping bags), we stayed out of them. A lot of the doors were open, revealing the interior of the rooms, most of which still had stray pieces of furniture. I could even hear running water in one of the rooms, which was quite odd.

This was my first time going near an abandoned building, and to be honest it was quite creepy. I definitely don’t see myself exploring any more anytime soon.

Have you ever entered an abandoned building? What was the experience like? Let me know in the comments!
