There are so many exciting activities to participate in during the holiday season, so grab a friend or partner and make some memories to cherish for years to come!
Admire some pretty lights
In Edmonton, we have Candy Cane Lane, which is a street with houses completely decked out with Christmas lights and decorations. I have been once, and although it was an extremely cold evening, the lights were worth it. An event that I’ll be trying for the first time this year is The Magic of Lights. It’s an LED light display which is set up at the Castrol Raceway. You purchase a car pass and then you can drive a lap around the track while enjoying the display.
Watch holiday movies & drink hot chocolate
After a long week at school or work, sometimes all you need is a relaxing night in with blankets and hot chocolate. Canadian Netflix has a great selection of Christmas movies right now, including Elf, The Grinch, Love Actually, and more.
In my city, there’s an outdoor hockey rink in every neighbourhood, so it’s pretty easy to throw on a pair of skates and go. If you have never been ice skating before, then winter is a perfect time to learn!
This one definitely isn’t winter specific, but I love checking out the Boxing Day deals. It can be scary to face the crowds, so if that isn’t your thing, then maybe a stay-at-home online shopping date would be better.
What are some of your holiday date ideas?
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄🎁 Enjoy the time spent with your loved ones.
