Buying Prescription Glasses Online | My Experiences with Clearly.ca

Shopping for glasses at your optician’s store can be expensive. I remember my first pair of glasses at age 13 being around $600! Now, as a semi-broke university student who’s taste changes daily, I need a place to purchase glasses that is trendy, but won’t break the bank. About five years ago, I discovered the website Clearly. They have a wide range of glasses (as well as contact lenses and sunglasses) from numerous designer brands, including Ray-Ban and Vera Wang.

FIRST PURCHASE

When I purchased my first pair of glasses from Clearly in 2013, they had a “first pair free” promotion, where you only paid for additional lens add-ons, and shipping. I knew I had to take advantage of this deal, so I chose a pair of glasses and paid only $35 CAD for anti-glare + lens protection, and shipping.

SECOND PURCHASE

In 2015 I made my second purchase with Clearly. My prescription had changed, so I decided to switch things up. I had a $10 coupon that I used for this order, so my total came to $98.95 CAD.

THIRD PURCHASE

While I did like my second pair of glasses, I found they were a bit too big for my face, so my next pair in 2017 were smaller, and with more of a cat eye shape. This purchase came to $85.00 CAD.

FOURTH PURCHASE

At the beginning of this year, Clearly had an irresistible deal to celebrate their 10th birthday: buy one get one free glasses. To make the deal even sweeter, they also had 10% cash back on Ebates!

I chose two pairs of glasses; very different from anything I’d ever purchased before. I found both pairs on their Instagram page, where they repost pictures of customers wearing their frames.

For these two pairs of glasses, plus protective lens coating for each, I paid $135 CAD. Of course, I also received $13.50 back through Ebates*!

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE COMPANY

Overall, the quality of the glasses available is exceptional considering the low price point. The only reason I purchase new glasses so frequently is because my prescription or style preference changes.

Shipping is always quicker than expected; likely because they ship from British Columbia, which is only one province over from Alberta.

If you’re worried about whether you’ll like the glasses once they arrive, don’t worry, Clearly’s return policy is incredible. You can contact Clearly within 30 days of receiving your order and request a free electronic shipping label if you wish to return them.

  1. Great review, these are gorgeous glasses. Buying from the optician never made sense to me – so expensive!! I also usually get mine from Eyebuydirect, but I’ll have to check Clearly now.
